Finding Common Ground: Understanding Ourselves and the World Through Literature: Navigating Transitions and Change By Jung Kim and Deborah Augsburger
Document: Column
Introductory Paragraph: This is our final contribution to this column. We have had an absolute blast reading and writing for this column, and we will definitely still be reading and writing about literature in all sorts of other areas. However, as we become more senior in our various professional spaces, we have taken on more and more responsibilities and duties, making it more challenging to prioritize writing this column. We will still be at places like the Illinois Reading Council, National Council for Teachers of English, and the Adolescent Literature Assembly of NCTE, nerding out about books (so come say hi!), but we are passing the mantle on to two fabulous literature-appreciating colleagues, Dr. Melanie Koss and Dr. Katie Paciga. In the spirit of this transition, we chose books that are also about change and transition. Some are harrowing stories, others more joyous. Either way, we hope you enjoy our last contribution. Happy reading!
