Climate Justice Now: Lessons from a Preservice Elementary Educator Who Is Teaching for Sustainable Futures By Rebecca Woodard and Kristine M. Schutz with Jade Guest
Document: Column
Introductory Paragraph: This past year, our column featured three remarkable preK-8 educators who have embraced developing their climate knowledge and pedagogy: Ashley, Eva, and William. In this installment, we introduce you to Jade Guest. We became acquainted with Jade while teaching preservice literacy methods courses at the University of Illinois Chicago. In each of our classes, she demonstrated a curiosity and eagerness to explore how to incorporate a focus on climate change and environmental sustainability into her developing teaching practice. We are excited to share how this stand-out preservice teacher took up ideas introduced around literacy-rich climate pedagogy from methods courses and incorporated them into her student teaching experience.
