Executive Officers will attend a comprehensive training and
team-building workshop. Please watch your mail for registration

August 1, 2010: Illinois Title I Association (ITA) is accepting applications for the 2010-11 Grant Program.
ITA will award financial grants for innovative programs and projects
submitted by ITA members. Priority will be given to ITA members who
have not received grant monies during the previous years. For more

August 9, 2010: Southern Illinois Reading Council will host a Summer Mini-Conference from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Carbondale Civic Center, 200 South Illinois Avenue, Carbondale, Illinois. The Mini-Conference is a kickoff for the new school year and the 2011 IRC Conference, Literacy
Outside the Box! To help with your "Outside the Box" teaching, topics
will include reading, writing, media/technology, classroom management,
and teaching strategies. Early registration is due by July 1st and is
$15 for SIRC/IRC members and $20 for non-members. After July 1st,
registration is $20 for SIRC/IRC members and $30 for non-members.
August 23, 2010: Northern Illinois Reading Council is accepting Program Proposals for the 23rd Annual Fall Conference to be held on September 23, 2010 at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois.

September 15, 2010: Secondary Reading League (SRL) is accepting applications for two 2010 SRL Literacy Grants of $500 to develop innovative literacy projects in a school or classroom. SRL members can download the application at www.dayofreading.org. The winners will be announced at the 34th Day of Reading in November. For more information, please contact Gail Huizinga, the SRL Literacy Grant chair.
September 23, 2010: Northern Illinois Reading Council will host the 23rd Annual Fall Conference featuring Christine Boardman Moen from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kishwaukee College Conference Center, Malta, Illinois. Early registration is $15 for NIRC members and $30 for non-NIRC members and must be postmarked by September 8th. Registration at the door is $20 for NIRC members and $35 for non-NIRC members.

January 1, 2010: Illinois Council for Affective Reading Education (ICARE) is accepting nominations for the Gene Cramer ICARE for Reading Award
for an outstanding educatior who shows concern for the affective domain
of reading and who strives to promote lifelong reading habits among

2011.
