August 7, 2008: Northern Illinois Reading Council will hold a Member Appreciation Event Igniting Writing for ISAT
from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kishwaukee College Conference Center, 21193 Malta Road, Malta,
Illinois. Registration and check-in begin at 8:30 AM. Presenters
include Pam Farris, Donna Werderich and Candace Fleming. This workshop
and lunch is free for NIRC members. The fee for nonmembers will be

August 16, 2008: Northwestern Illinois Reading Council will host "Engage! Excite! Ignite! Back-to-School Event" starting at 9:00 AM at the Staples
in Freeport, Illinois. This is a teacher appreciation day and the first
200 teachers will receive free gifts. From 10:00 to 11:00 AM, NWIRC
will meet at Manny's Four for cold drinks, prizes, and a presentation by Boomer Crotty entitled "25 Books that have Changed Children into Readers." At 11:00 AM, NWIRC will head to Book World to shop for books with a 20% discount for educators and teachers will also receive a free gift.

purchase and read the book on their own, then meet together for

purchase and read the book on their own, then meet together for
discussion. NIRC members will receive a $10 gift card for attending a
TAR session. In order to receive a gift card you must RSVP by the day
